Core Gameplay Mechanics (Detailed)

VR project based on puzzle game

The story happens in a maze located in the forest. Players’ mission is to find treasures inside the forest.

How it works

In the forest maze, players need to use objects from the forest to figure out puzzles and find correct ways to get treasures. These objects could be tree trunks, branches, rocks… Puzzles would be solved by remove objects or scaling objects.

Story and Gameplay

Story (Brief)

The guardian spirit’s name is Q.

The guardian spirits travel around the world collecting treasures.

In Q’s journey, met a timid woodcutter, soon they fell in love. Considering that the Woodcutter was afraid of many non-human creatures, Q did not tell him she is a guardian spirit. (Treasure 1).

Story (Detailed)

Mountain ghost Yao and guardian spirits Q walk together into the forest.

There is a huge, dry trunk blocks their way.

Yao use her magic remove the trunk away so that they are able to go to the deep of the forest again.

They notice some glowing particles around them. After moving trees to the side of the path, particles gather together and become moving images which showing the past of Q : Q was walking in the forest with her treasure chest. She saw a piece of antique, picked it up and put it into her chest.

By the guidance of glowing particles, they arrive at a corner of the forest. Here, glowing particles gather again, another story of Q appears: Q saw a woodcutter. She followed him quietly, and after a while, they fell in love.

Gameplay (Brief)

Aim and select objects to pick them up.

Remove objects by moving hands (holding joysticks) to any orientation.

Throw objects away from or put them in proper positions.

Gameplay (Detailed)

  • The viewer is mountain ghost.  NPC is Q.
  • The story is about Q’s past.
  • Swinging arms like you’re running to move in the virtual environment.
  • Raising your hands to chest level. Aiming at obstacles that block your way.
  • Press trigger on your VR joysticks to select objects.
  • Hold both triggers and move your arms to any other orientation.
  • Release triggers to throw objects.
  • If there are any images/animation contain stories inside the project, just stop your footsteps and watch. Or leave them and continue your game experience. The choice is yours.
  • Some objects are obstacles that need to be removed, some can be helpful.

e.g. huge rocks can stand in the way to the destination. However, when you need to reach a higher place, you will need to stand on a rock to increase your original height.
